Advent Quotes for your Sermons
Happy New (Church) Year!
It's a new start for a new year of prayer and preaching!
Aren't we blessed that that is what we have to look forward to? We get to spend time with God and Scripture so that we bring to others a word of hope and faith, justice and reconciliation.
What could possibly be better than that?
The First Sunday of Advent marks the beginning of the new Church year, of course, and what better way to welcome it than reflecting on quotes that will inspire our spirits and sermons for Advent and all year long.
These quotes focus on the ways God increases our faith during periods of uncertainty—kind of like now.
For example, Howard Thurman offers:
“There must be always remaining in every life, some place for the singing of angels, some place for that which in itself is breathless and beautiful.”
There’s a whole sermon in that one quote!
It’s critically important that people of faith pay attention and point to that which is breathless and beautiful— even in the worst of our fears and uncertainty, and then share that beauty with others.
I hope you find this and the other quotes increase your own faith in God, who cherishes and guides us every nanosecond of our life.
Happy New Year, Preacher!
